Minki Hosts UKG Showroom Opening

GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS & VIDEO – After more than a year of planning and preparation, Universal Kitchens & Granite celebrated the grand opening of the Garden Route showroom on Thursday 24 February.

The exclusive event was hosted by their brand ambassador, TV presenter Minki van der Westhuizen.

Universal Kitchens & Granite has been creating dream kitchens for over 17 years in Gauteng, from producing the 3D designs to manufacturing the completed units in their state-of-the-art factory. Despite being in the middle of a pandemic, visionary managing director Clinton van Breda overcame all obstacles to open a boutique selection showroom in the Garden Route.

Situated in the heart of George on Merriman Street, the new Universal Kitchens & Granite Garden Route showroom has exquisite kitchen displays including the latest in kitchen storage solutions and cutting-edge functionality.

“We wanted a footprint in the Cape and George was the ideal location for us,” said Van Breda. “We are a family-owned business and our staff are part of our family. Every project that we work on is done with passion and the utmost dedication to excellence. Quality comes with experience!”

Guests were treated to a cooking demonstration by celebrity chef Herman Lensing, who showcased a few of the easy but delicious meals available in his latest cookbook. Herman can be seen in Minki’s kitchen, which was created and sponsored by Universal Kitchens, on the popular TV programme, Minki, currently airing on VIA TV, DSTV.

On Thursday night, the space looked stylishly elegant with selected furniture supplied by Furntex SA.

The gin bar, sponsored by Cape Saint Blaize, ensured the gin cocktails flowed while guests enjoyed decadent canapes prepared and served by Frankly Fresh / Frankly Vegan, and mouth-watering desserts curated by the talented chefs at Prince of Tarts.

The South African Institute of Architects attended, and interesting industry talks were given by Blum, Inter Slab and PG Bison, all of whom are proud suppliers to Universal Kitchens & Granite.

“Supporting the local community is important to us,” said Van Breda. “We used all-local suppliers for the launch such as South Cape Distributers, Your Local fresh coffee trailer, Corner Club, CCPP group and Garden Route Stretch Tents – from printing through to the entertainment.”

The guests danced the night away before being given elegant goody bags with gifts and vouchers sponsored by Versus Luxury Paint and Coatings, MicroDx Food Grade Sanitiser, Lumela Afrika Enamelware, Prince of Tarts and Inter Slab.

Brenda and Marlon Vorster won the lucky draw which saw them walking away with a Smeg coffee machine
